Sensor Link - Enabling the use of 1 Gbit and
10 Gbit Ethernet as a Sensor Data Fabric

Sensor Link lets users easily connect simple wide band I/O devices like A/Ds, digital receivers and imaging devices to standard Gigabit Ethernet networks. Data can be streamed at wire speed with low latency to processors, storage devices and/or other Sensor Link modules. The result is a Gigabit Ethernet Sensor Fabric - the first ever for embedded systems applications.

The bidirectional Sensor Link converts sensor data streams to/from standard UDP or TCP Ethernet data at rates up to 1200 MBytes/sec sustained.

Why Use Ethernet as a Sensor Network Fabric?
  • High performance - 10 Gb & 1Gb data rates
  • Use of commodity switches, analyzers and tools
  • Use of standard protocols and APIs
  • Highly scalable (ports and bandwidth)
  • Failover, redundancy
  • Broadcast and multicast
  • Sensor management over same network
